Biography

As I look back on my life I realize that the first
time that I became aware that  there was such a
thing as the  Five Universal Laws of
Achievement was during WWII when I ended up
flying the North American P-51 Mustang. In the
picture to the right, that’s me in the back row
and to the far left.

Many men entered the Army Air Force and
wanted to be pilots. A relative few made it into
the training program. And then fewer still
graduated as pilots and after that even fewer
still were able to fly the P-51. Was it about
chance? Maybe, but I don’t think so. As I look
back I think that my thought of flying, my love of
flying, my willingness to do what was necessary
to learn to fly and mixed in it all was my ability to
use my imagination and see myself flying the ’51
that had everything to do with actually doing it.
After all I had dreamed about flying since the
age of five. There were a great number of
obstacles in my way that many others gave into,
but I didn’t.

In high school I had no trouble being a very
good student and leader. I joined the ROTC and
in my senior year was the student leader of the
battalion. When I came home after the war I
went back to UC Berkeley, became president of
my college fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon,
graduated, got a job, got married and started to
raise a family. In 1950 I became an agent for the
Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company in San
Francisco. And everything started off in the
same manner as everything else that I had ever
done. I became really successful, that is for
about a year and then I seemed to hit a road
block.  No matter how hard I tried I couldn’t
increase my success rate. I tried everything.
Listened to the outstanding agents of the day,
took success training courses one after
another and nothing changed.

My non-business activities went along
extremely well. I became the president of this
organization and president of that organization
without even trying. Years later I joined the
then named Confederate Air Force and become
the leader of two different Wings. I began to fly
a 1943 SNJ in air shows and had a ball.

At the same time I often wondered why I never
chose flying as a career, as I loved it so. I
became aware of the major “blocker” that
prevented me from selecting aviation as a
career path. That realization literally caused me
to burst into tears when I discovered how I
denied myself the ultimate in my business
happiness.

Years later I began to do some intensive I
never succeeded in my business life to an
extent equal to my non-business life. What I
discovered was the thought process or
“blocker” that stopped me. I was absolutely
amazed. As I worked with my coaching clients I
found that they too experienced ones similar to
mine. That is when I began to teach and speak
and write about the Five Principles of Peak
Performance.

Let me coach you in what I am coaching so
many others. I know that you too will be
overwhelmed with what you learn about
yourselves. I will help you remove your own
blockers and increase the success and
happiness in your life as I have done in mine.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the
intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-
preserved body.
The goal is to skid in broadside, tires smoking,
jazz blaring, body all dented, thoroughly used
up and worn out, and loudly proclaiming,
“Wow what a ride!”
